Srinagar - Nineteen people, including 12 guerrillas, were killed and 23 wounded in explosions and gun battles across India's Kashmir region, police said yesterday.
Police said four civilians were killed and 17 others wounded when separatist guerrillas exploded a grenade in a crowded street in Batamaloo in the heart of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Later yesterday Indian border guards killed eight separatist militants trying to slip into Indian-controlled Kashmir from Pakistan, a defence spokesman said.
