Perth - Two people died and 21 were injured in three major bushfires raging in the south of Western Australia, police said today. An 18-year-old woman was found dead early today on the Great Southern Highway near Pingelly, 180 km southeast of Perth and an elderly volunteer firefighter died in a Perth hospital after he was airlifted from a blaze at nearby Brookton.
Another firefighter taken to Perth from Brookton remains in a critical condition. Twentyone other people were injured in the blaze and 10 of them are in hospital, five in a serious condition.
