Two men were arrested last night when gardai arrived on the scene as an 80-year-old man's home was being ransacked by two intruders.
The man had been tied up by the intruders who broke into his home at Rialto Cottages, Dublin, shortly before midnight. The two men arrested were taken to Kilmainham Garda station for questioning.
In a separate incident in Dublin, two young Scottish men were set upon by a gang of youths after they entered Fatima Mansions at about 10.30 p.m. One of the visitors was badly beaten in the incident, which happened on McCarthy Terrace, and was taken to St James's Hospital for treatment.
