A footballer with Cliftonville soccer club, which won the Irish League this season, has been awarded £20,000 sterling in the High Court in Belfast. Mr Tim McCann (26) from Victoria Gardens, Belfast, claimed he contracted asthma while working as an apprentice welder in the early 1990s.
He sued his former employers, F.G. Wilson Ltd, for injuries he sustained by reason of their alleged negligence and breach of duty under the Factories Act. The case was settled out of court for £20,225.
