More than 210,000 pensioners will this week receive their €234 bonus, Minister for Social Affairs Seamus Brennan announced today.
The one-off payment makes up the weekly increases in pensions announced in the Budget in December covering a 13 week period from January 1st to the end of March.
Pensioners whose money is paid out at the Post Office will receive the cash boost in the coming days.
Some 120,000 pensioners who are paid their pensions by other means, such as Electronic Fund Transfer, have been receiving the increase weekly since January.

In the Budget, the State Contributory pension was rose by €16 to over €209 per week, with the State Non-Contributory pension going up by €18 per week to €200.
