A schoolgirl whose left foot was permanently scarred after an incident at a swimming pool has been awarded €25,000 damages.
Counsel Pat O’Dwyer told the Circuit Civil Court yesterday that Hollie McNevin was only nine when the incident happened six years ago. He said the girl, from Walkinstown Park, Dublin, had been swimming at Templeogue College pool and had slipped in a shower in the changing area.
She had caught her foot on a broken plastic drain and had to receive eight stitches.
Judge Joseph Mathews approved the settlement offer. He said Hollie did not like the cosmetic appearance of the permanent scar, which was not amenable to surgery.
