DETROIT - A commuter plane crashed into a snow covered cornfield in rural Michigan south of Detroit yesterday, killing all 29 people on board, airport officials said.
The officials said the plane burst into flames and exploded on impact in the cornfield near Monroe, some 40 km southwest of Detroit.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known. Officials said 26 passengers and three crew were aboard the ComAir plane. ComAir is partly owned by Delta Air Lines.
Authorities said there had been no prior word of any trouble and the plane just disappeared from radar screens.
