Montreal - More than three million Quebecers spent a sixth night without electricity last night after a storm dropped 100 millimetres of freezing rain on the province last week, writes Katherine Wilton. The provincial government has called in 8,000 Canadian soldiers to help restore power to almost one million homes and businesses damaged when freezing rain snapped trees and brought down power lines and hydro pylons. Thousands of people have taken refuge in 250 emergency shelters set up in the Montreal region.
