The British Home Office has confirmed that a further three republican prisoners will be transferred to Ireland within a month. The three men were named as Patrick Hayes, Denis Kinsella and Vincent Wood. Their transfers will go ahead when the Irish Government completes the paperwork concerning their cases.
Patrick Hayes was sentenced to 30 years in May 1994 for conspiracy to cause explosions in Britain. British police also believed he was involved in 25 terrorist attacks in London in late 1992 and the beginning of 1993.
Denis Kinsella was convicted for possession of Semtex with intent in 1993, following a bomb attack on Warrington gasworks, and sentenced to 25 years. Wood was sentenced to 25 years for possession of 17.5 kg of Semtex found at his home in east London, although the sentence was later reduced to 17 years on appeal.
