About 30 Irish people were today being evacuated from Lebanon as the conflict there escalated.
The group are to be taken by bus on the 12-hour journey from Beirut to Syria, where it is expected they will be flown home.
The Department of Foreign Affairs earlier this week organised an evacuation for 80 Irish citizens.
They were taken across the border to the Syrian capital of Damascus, where they boarded a Government-chartered flight to Dubai, and on to Ireland.
