Pristina - At least 30 Kosovo Albanian guerrillas were killed yesterday by Yugoslav border guards as they tried to cross into Kosovo under cover of night, the Serbian information centre in Pristina said.
It was by far the worst incident reported since mid-October, when a fragile, US-brokered ceasefire between Kosovo Albanian separatists and Serbian security forces took effect.
The ethnic Albanians, wearing uniforms with the insignia of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), attempted to cross into Kosovo near the Gorozup and Liken border posts, the information centre said.
Four Serbs were killed and five others wounded yesterday in Kosovo province when a masked man burst into a cafe and opened fire with an automatic weapon, international observers said.
