Cairo - Sudanese rebels have killed 300 government soldiers and injured more than 500 others in the biggest battle in a year, the head of the opposition's joint military command stated here yesterday.
Gen Abdel Rahmane Said said that on Thursday, "SPLA [Sudan People's Liberation Army] forces pushed back a major government offensive" in the south of the Blue Nile province, killing 300 men, wounding 500 and capturing 12, as well as seizing a T-55 tank and 11 troop transports.
