Bhubaneswar - India will give one billion rupees (£21 million) to aid thousands of people marooned in its eastern state of Orissa after torrential rains set off flash floods.
Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had asked the federal government for two billion rupees in relief for his state, where floods have killed at least 23 people, washed away 4,000 houses and damaged 14,000 homes in the past 10 days.
