More than 30,000 tickets were snapped up by eager fans for Madonna's first Irish concert within 30 minutes of tickets going on sale this morning.
Ticketmaster have been inundated with thousands of calls from fans for Madonna's long-awaited Irish debut at Slane Castle on August 29th.
A further 10,000 of the 80,000 tickets were sold so far today. Music City in Rathmines and Music Box in Finglas both told ireland.compeople were queuing outside their shops from 5 a.m. for tickets.
"The tickets have sold exceptionally well, quicker than anticipated. Over 50 per cent have sold despite blocking bulk sales and group bookings and restricting the number of sales to any one person," said Mr Justin Green, of promoters MCD. "It is definitely on course for a sell-out."
The tickets, priced at €88.50 are still available, so less quick-off-the mark Material Girl fans should still be able to pick up a few.
Due to the demand, Ticketmaster have drafted in an extra 300 staff, added 500 additional telephone lines to their existing 400 and, for the first time ever, doubled the volume of space on the Ticketmaster website.
