Manila - Philippine rescue officials said early today 13 people had been recovered alive from an inter-island ferry carrying more than 400 people but the fate of the others remained uncertain.
"We can confirm 13 survivors have been recovered but we still don't know what happened to our ship," Sulpicio Lines vice president Vicente Gambito told Reuters hours after the MV Princess of the Orient sent out a distress call. Gambito said he could not confirm a Manila radio station report the ship had sunk.
