A man who stole more than £41,500 cash during a burglary in Killiney, Co Dublin, has been remanded in custody for sentence on April 23rd.
Damien Verhoven (21), of Ashlawn Park, Ballybrack, Co Dublin, pleaded guilty to stealing £7,000 and £34,500 sterling from a house at Ballinclea Heights, Killiney, on July 9th, 1997. He also admitted being a passenger in a stolen car.
When Judge Cyril Kelly at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court asked how Verhoven knew there would be so much cash in the house, Ms Marie Torrens, defending, said: "It was just pure luck". Mr Des Zaiden, prosecuting, said only about £700 had been recovered.
