Managua - A fishing boat with nearly 60 people on board has sunk off Nicaragua's Caribbean coast and 44 people are missing, the Defence Minister, Mr Pedro Joaquin Chamorro, said yesterday.
The boat was carrying 60 divers and crew members when it sank early on Monday near the port city of Puerto Cabezas, about 450 km north-east of Managua. Officials were also searching for a plane carrying 14 passengers and two crew which disappeared after it took off from Managua for the coastal city of Bluefields, 300 km east of the capital.
