A child is to receive more than £5,000 damages after a poster of the then presidential candidate, Mrs Mary McAleese, fell on the bonnet of his parents' car. Ryan Bates, of Ballask, Kilmore, was one when the poster fell from its hoarding in Kilmore, Wexford, on November 10th, 1997. Mr Martin Nolan, counsel for the child, told Wexford Circuit Civil Court that Ryan suffered from post-traumatic stress. The judge made an order for £5,100, with costs.
