London - Britain's Foreign Office said yesterday that five British nationals were among a group of people, which included United Nations military observers, taken hostage in Sierra Leone on Wednesday.
The group was abducted when they went to the Okra Hills about 65 km east of the capital, Freetown, where Sierra Leone rebels had been due to hand over about 200 children taken captive during the country's civil war. The children were not released, and the UN-led group was detained by the rebels instead.
