Gardaí in Cork have arrested a man for questioning following the seizure of €60,000 worth of drugs yesterday afternoon.
Officers from the Cork City divisional drugs squad assisted by local gardaí made the discovery when they stopped a car near Fermoy. They discovered five kilos of cannabis herb and a small quantity of cannabis in a follow up search of a house in the area.
The man – who is from the Watergrasshill area – was arrested under drugs trafficking legislation and taken to Fermoy garda station for questioning.
Under drugs trafficking legislation gardaí can hold the man for up to seven days for questioning about the drugs which they believe was destined for the Cork market.
