Berlin - German police said yesterday they had seized heroin worth about 20 million marks (£9.17 million) - the third-largest seizure of narcotics in the country's history.
Police in Cologne said the drugs were found in a Turkish truck stopped by customs officials and police on a motorway late on Friday.
The two Turkish drivers, aged 46 and 48, claimed they were transporting dried fruit. The truck had passed through Italy and Austria. Police arrested the two men.
