An international cluster of authors, poets and critics descends on Galway this week to participate in the Cuirt International Festival of Literature - taking place in a variety of intimate, relaxed venues around the city from Tuesday, April 21st - 26th.
Readers include Jeanette Winterson, Irina Ratushinskaya, Carmen Boullosa, Liz Lochead, Lavinia Greenlaw, Sebastian Barry, Tom Paulin, Joseph O'Connor, Frank McCourt, Katie Donovan, Niall Williams, Mary O'Donnell, Deirdre Madden, Bernard MacLaverty and many others.
There will also be readings for children, concerts, a trip to Athenry to pay tribute to the poet, Padraic Fallon, an education programme and the annual Cuirt Lecture given by Irish Times journalist, Eileen Battersby, on the life and work of the Spanish writer, Federico Garcia Lorca.
