Prof David C. Coleman of the School of Dental Science and the Department of Microbiology of Trinity College won the National Commission for Microbiology Award for his discovery of a new species of oral fungus in HIV-infected and AIDS patients.

The specially-designed silver medal, which has been awarded only twice, is given for excellence by a researcher under 40 years of age. He will receive his award and present a paper at a conference on Microbial Responses to Stress on Thursday, April 30th at Academy House, 19 Dawson Street.
