A grand day out

Tomorrow week the British embassy has its day at the races

Tomorrow week the British embassy has its day at the races. To celebrate Britain's six-month tenure of the European Presidency, and the 25 years since Britain and Ireland joined the Union, the embassy will be taking over Leopardstown.

The host will be the ambassador, Veronica Sutherland, and among the VIPs attending will be the Minister for Agriculture, Joe Walsh and his guests, British junior ministers Lord Donoghue from Agriculture and Lord Dubs from the Northern Ireland Office. Other politicians were too tied up in the Northern talks to even think about whether they will be racing tomorrow week or not.
