Aah, that's Bass

After the dreaminess of BT's, it was down to Bass-ics at the Kitchen on Thursday night

After the dreaminess of BT's, it was down to Bass-ics at the Kitchen on Thursday night. The occasion was the launch of the new EP, Remote Control Soul, by much-vaunted Cork dance band Bass Odyssey. Details of their Remote Control Soul tour were also announced. Taking in nine venues around the country, it kicks off on Wednesday at the GPO club in Galway.

It was no night off for the band's DJ McStrict, who was keeping dance-aholics busy all evening. Taking in the happenings was TV3 presenter-cum-music promoter Darragh Purcell, full of talk about promoting Nick Cave at the Gaiety on March 28th. Brian Spollen, of Quadrophonic records, was looking forward to the oodles of noodles and sushi he'll be chowing down when he travels with Bass Odyssey to do the label's first shows in Japan in the summer.

Also there were No Disco's Uaneen Fitzsimons, Donal Scannell, Today FM's Donal Dineen and the ubiquitous band-plugger supremo, Buzz O'Neill.
