Management consulting and technology services firm Accenture is to recruit 100 new staff as part of an expansion of its business.

The new jobs will be spread throughout Accenture's business activities, mainly located in Dublin and its consulting practice in the IFSC, with positions in business and technology consulting, systems integration, project and programme management, IT and finance opening up.

This will bring the company's total Irish workforce to 1,600.

"This latest recruitment drive signals the continuing expansion of our Irish operations in response to increasing demand from our growing Irish client base," said Mark Ryan, manageing director for Accenture in Ireland.

"To support businesses and Government in their pursuit of high performance we need to be able to mobilise the right people, skills and technologies here in Ireland. This new recruitment drive will help us achieve that objective."

The news comes as 330 jobs were lost in Cork as Motorola confirmed it was to shut its factory located there. Staff are being briefed on the situation this afternoon.
