A man who was killed when the car in which he was travelling collided with a cow on Saturday was named yesterday as Mr William Fitzgerald (66), Camolin, Co Wexford. He was the front-seat passenger in the car when the accident happened at Ferns at 4.55 p.m. The driver who was injured was taken to hospital.
A man died after his car hit a fence three miles south of Carlow on the M9 at 10 p.m. on Sunday. Mr Sean Cuffe (22), Crossmolina, Co Mayo, was taken to Carlow District Hospital where he later died. Mr Muiris Killeen (17), son of Clare Fianna Fail TD Mr Tony Killeen, was still in critical condition in Cork University Hospital yesterday after an accident in which a car struck a tree and overturned near Corofin, Co Clare at 3 a.m. on Saturday.
Ms Deirdre McDarby (17) of Brookhaven Drive, Blanchardstown, Dublin, was killed in the accident.
