Former Glenroe actor Michael Collins and members of his family were refused service in a Dublin pub because they were Travellers, a court heard yesterday.

Mr Collins, who played Johnny Connors in the long-running TV show, said he was refused service at Mulligan's pub, Stoneybatter, in August 2004. He told Dublin's District Court that the then manager had told him he was under instruction from the owners that Travellers were not to be served.

The court heard the licence of the pub was transferred in September of that year to new licensees Come Along Inns. Mr Collins said he had not been into the pub since the new licensees took control and that other members of his family had been discriminated against.

On March 10th, 2005, Mr Collins's first cousin - also Michael - said he and his family were refused service.
