The overall winner of this year's Irish Tatler Women of the Year Awards is Adi Roche, executive director of the Chernobyl Children's Project.

The winners were announced last night at a ceremony in the Mansion House in Dublin and the Hall of Fame winner this year was author and journalist Nell McCafferty.

A spokesman for the Irish Tatler said the awards showcased and celebrated the many achievements of Irish women across many remits. This year there were 13 categories.

The winner for sport was: athlete Derval O'Rourke; music and entertainment: singer-songwriter Julie Feeney; media: presenter Gráinne Seoige; literature: author Deirdre Purcell; business: company chief executive Anne Heraty; public life: Minister for Education Mary Hanafin; Northern Ireland: Nicki Kinnaird; drama: actress Ruth Negga; fashion design: Lainey Keogh; special recognition: Caroline Casey; international: Hillary Clinton.
