London - Adidas claimed yesterday that the cut-price trainers Tesco is offering for sale are old clearance stock.
The sportswear makers dismissed the superstore's attempt to undercut its prices as a "cheap two-day publicity stunt" and urged customers to stick to specialist retailers. This followed Tesco's announcement on Wednesday that it is knocking up to £20 off the price of Adidas stock obtained from overseas after Adidas said Tesco has the "wrong image" to sell its goods.
