Cabin crew at Aer Lingus will begin balloting today on proposals put forward by the Labour Court on pay and conditions, as the threat of strike action looms.

On Monday, IMPACT’s cabin crew committee advised members to reject the proposals, describing them as "inadequate" and likely to lead to unacceptable new working conditions.

The ballot of members will take place from today until Juanuary 30th.

IMPACT, which represents 1,400 Aer Lingus cabin crew, staged a one-day strike on October 17th last year which caused widespread disruption to services and was estimated to have cost the airline around £2 million.
