Aer Lingus flights hit by Italian air strike

A planned strike by air traffic controllers in Italy tomorrow has forced Aer Lingus to cancel a number of scheduled flights.

The strike which is due to take place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Italian time) is expected to disrupt hundreds of flights into and out of Italy.

Aer Lingus said flights EI 512/513 between Dublin and Bolonga has been cancelled, as have flights EI 672/673 between Dublin and Milan.

It said flight EI 504 from Dublin to Rome has been rescheduled from 10.10 a.m. to 2.20 p.m. Flight EI 505 due to leave Rome at 3.25 p.m. will now depart at the rescheduled time of 7.35 p.m.

The airline said passengers holding reservations on cancelled flights should contact Aer Lingus Reservations on 0818 365 000, to make alternative travel arrangements.

Passengers holding reservations on rescheduled flights are being advised to check in two hours before departure.

The airline said normal services to Italy would resume on Friday.

The air traffic controllers are striking because they have been without a contract for two years.
