Aer Lingus Group this morning said it carried 10.7 per cent more passengers in August compared with the same period last year.
The airline said 891,000 passengers travelled with it during the month, against 805,000 in August a year ago.
However, the airline's passenger load factor - how full its aircraft were - fell 2.5 per cent points to 79.1 per cent due to a 7.5 per cent fall in long-haul.
However, there was better news on its short-haul routes where loads were up 1.5 points to 79.8 per cent with a capacity increase of 10.8 per cent. This is the second month in a row of increasing short-haul loads.
It also emerged yesterday that talks between Aer Lingus management and representatives of its pilots scheduled for today have been postponed until Monday.
