A strike by air traffic controllers in Italy has forced Aer Lingus and Ryanair to cancel a number of scheduled flights.
The strike - which takes place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Italian time) - is expected to disrupt hundreds of flights into and out of Italy. The air traffic controllers are striking because they have been without a contract for two years.
According to Aer Lingus, flights EI 512 and EI513 between Dublin and Bolonga have been cancelled, as have flights EI 672 and EI673 between Dublin and Milan.
Flight EI 504 from Dublin to Rome has been rescheduled from 10.10 a.m. to 2.20 p.m. (Irish time). Flight EI 505 from Rome at 3.25 p.m. will now depart at 7.35 p.m. local time.
Passengers holding reservations on cancelled flights are advised to contact Aer Lingus Reservations on 0818-365000 to make alternative travel arrangements. The airline said normal services to Italy would resume tomorrow.
Most Ryanair flights to and from Italy today have been cancelled. Passengers are advised to check the company's website at Ryanair.com to see if their flight has been affected.
