SIPTU vice-president Mr Jack O'Connor, speaking ahead of a briefing at the Labour Court this afternoon, has said tomorrow's industrial action at Aer Lingus will go ahead because of the "exceptional situation" the union finds itself in.

He said the union believed management will not approach talks in the dispute over a pay parity claim "in the belief that this issue is as serious as it actually is".
"This action is necessary to focus minds," he said.
Mr O'Connor has said it is not reasonable to expect members to accept less favourable terms than those agreed with other groups.
Tomorrow's threatened strike is the first of three planned by SIPTU. The others are planned for Friday, April 6th, and Thursday, April 12th.
The airline has condemned the strike as "completely unjustified". It has cancelled all flights except some incoming flights from the United States.
It said the cabin crew deal does not breach the terms of similar deals with other grades.
