British aeronautical engineering company today announced the establishment of a Belfast base which is expected to create up to 50 jobs.
Morson Projects - part of the London based publicly quoted Morson Group - specialises in the provision of engineering design consultancy solutions for its clients.
It said its new multi-million pound Belfast specialist engineering design office will focus on the design of new nacelle and composite applications, serving markets outside Northern Ireland.
Brendan Austin, general manager of the new operation said: "We hope to attract quality engineering graduates and experienced engineers who will enable us to focus on the development of composite structure and fuel system technology.
"We also plan to tap into the existing knowledge-base here, working closely with the universities. This will ensure that we have access to the most advanced technology and information that will help us to increase global competitiveness through innovation."
He said the Morson Group had an unbroken record of increasing sales over the past 20 years and the new Northern Ireland base would be pivotal to its growth strategy for the region over the next four years.
Invest Northern Ireland has offered stg£156,000 to support the establishment of the new company base.
Invest NI chief executive Leslie Morrison said: "As well as utilising the existing skills in Northern Ireland, this project will further enhance the skills of the workforce in the long-term, adding value to the local aerospace industry and the economy."
