The military chief of the Northern Alliance fighting Afghanistan's ruling Taliban has vowed an all-out offensive to coincide with any US attacks to hunt down Osama bin Laden.

The Northern Alliance, which controls about 5 percent of Afghanistan, was not involved in any formal military co-operation with the United States, Gen Fahim said.

He has been military chief of the Northern Alliance since the assassination of the legendary Ahmad Shah Masood last month.

"We have only contacts with America. We have received no aid or any promise for it," he said.

"They have not discussed the modality of their operations with us. But we think they will hit Taliban areas with missiles and bombs and based on a situation like this we will start our all-out infantry war against them," he said.
