Andre Agassi started the defence of his Australian Open title by trouncing Australian wildcard Todd Larkham 6-1 6-3 6-4 in the first round today.
The American hardly broke sweat as he disposed Larkham, who has won just two grand slam matches in a decade as a struggling professional.
Agassi is chasing his fifth Australian Open after previously winning in 1995, 2000, 2001 and 2003.
He missed the season-opening grand slam in 2002 because of injury and has now won 22 matches in a row at Melbourne Park.

The 33-year-old will play Czech qualifier Tomas Berdych in the second round on Wednesday.
