The Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, will this morning donate $15,000 (€12,692) to Temple Street Children's Hospital, Dublin.
The donation to the Electro Diagnostic Unit in the hospital comes from an award of $37,500 which Mr Ahern received in the US last month.
The Thomas J Dodd award was granted to Mr Ahern and to the British prime minister, Mr Blair, for efforts in the negotiation of the Belfast Agreement in 1998.
Mr Ahern is donating the remainder of the award to four Dublin-based charities.
The CARI charity for children will receive $15,000.
Three groups will receive $2,500 each.
They are: the Clareville Senior Citizens group; the Daughters of Charity on Dorset Street; and the Los Angeles Housing Project in central Dublin.
