Baghdad - Iraq said two people were wounded yesterday when Western planes bombed civilian and military targets in a no-fly zone in the north of the country.
A military spokesman said: "The planes attacked our service installations and some of our weapons sites. . . and the bombing led to the injury of two citizens."
The planes' base in southern Turkey said that US planes had bombed Iraqi air defences after coming under anti-aircraft fire in the no-fly zone over northern Iraq. It said US Air Force F-15 Strike Eagles, "responding in self-defence", dropped laser-guided bombs on anti-aircraft sites west of Mosul.
