Gardaí have arrested a man who escaped while being escorted onto a plane at Dublin airport this morning.
The man, a Georgian national (21), was being sent onto a flight to Frankfurt at 6.30am when he escaped. He ran across the tarmac and fled over the airfield.
The man was among a group of people being deported by the Garda National Immigration Bureau.
The airfield had to close for half an hour while a search was carried out by gardaí and airport security staff. The search was called off when the man was not located within the Dublin airport perimeter.
He was later found in Dublin city centre.
Around 30 flights were delayed by the incident.
Siobhán Moore, of Dublin Airport Authority, said: "Having unauthorised personnel on an airfield is a very serious concern, and it was closed until a sweep of the area was carried out. When he wasn't found in this area the airport reopened."
