Baku - President Heydar Aliyev of Azerbaijan has been re-elected to a new five-year term yesterday, but his main rival said the vote was rigged and vowed to challenge the result.
Mr Aliyev secured 76.11 per cent in Sunday's polls, with Mr Etibar Mammedov, who came second, with 11.6 per cent and Mr Nizami Suleimanov third with 8.1 per cent.
