A man with cerebral palsy who claims he was raped denied suggestions yesterday that he had sexually abused the defendant in the past.
Detectives told the Central Criminal Court that the defendant claimed he had been abused for a few years from the age of about 12 by the alleged victim.
He claimed the man gave him drink and fondled him.
When asked if he wanted gardai to make a formal statement about the alleged abuse, the defendant replied: "I will if he brings charges".
The 27-year-old defendant has pleaded not guilty to raping, sexually assaulting and assaulting the victim, occasioning him actual bodily harm, in his flat in Munster on March 20th, 1997.
The alleged victim, who says he thinks he is aged in his 30s, denied under cross-examination he had regularly supplied the defendant with drink in his flat when the accused was 12 to 16, or had showed him "blue movies" and fondled him.
Questioned by Denis Vaughan Buckley SC, defending, the alleged victim said: "No. I did not abuse him, to the best of my knowledge".
Pressed on this, he said he believed that one night the defendant had put whiskey or a clear alcoholic liquid, possibly poitin, in his coffee.
After drinking it the lights became swirling and he woke up in his bed the next morning. He did not know what had happened or how he had got into his bed. On a large number of other occasions the defendant had also made him coffee.
The trial continues before Mr Justice Carney and a jury.
