Almost 200 jobs are to be created in Northen Ireland, it was announced today.

Newry-based First Derivatives is to create 142 new highly specialised consultancy and managerial posts, generating an additional £11.6million in wages and salaries over the next two years.

The company, which is listed on both London's Alternative Investment Market and the Irish Stock Exchange, creates financial software and provides specialist consulting services. It was established 13 years ago.

Invest NI has offered over £3million to support the project which includes an element of staff skills development, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

"Since it was established in 1996, First Derivatives plc has rapidly grown into one of our most innovative and successful export companies, employing over 100 people in highly specialised positions," said Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster this morning.

"This is extremely positive news from a home grown company at a time where many local firms are feeling the effects of the global economic downturn."

Elsewhere, Belfast-based software and services company ICS Computing said it is to create 50 new jobs, it said today.
