Fernando Alonso, considered one of Formula One's biggest talents, and Jarno Trulli will stay with Renault next season, the team announced today.

"This driver line-up provides us with a perfect balance," managing director Flavio Briatore said in a statement.

"Our objectives for 2003 have been achieved, and in some cases exceeded. For next season, we are looking to take a further step forward, and believe these are the drivers who will enable us do that."

Renault lie fourth in the constructors' championship with 66 points thanks to Spain's Alonso winning 44 points and Italian Trulli taking 22.

Alonso, 22, is in his second season in Formula One. Trulli, 29, raced for Minardi, Prost and Jordan before joining Renault in 2002.

"The atmosphere in the team is excellent, the relationship between our drivers outstanding, and the technical team works well with them," Renault F1 team chairman Patrick Faure said.

"A stable environment is one of the pre-conditions for success, and this is why we believe maintaining our driver line-up is a key factor as our programme builds to full competitiveness."
