Rome - A US national under investigation in Italy following rioting outside the G8 summit in Genoa last month left Italy yesterday a day after being released from custody.
Susanna Thomas, 22, was expelled. She had been arrested on July 22 as she was hitching a lift with an Austrian theatre troupe.
Ms Thomas, a Quaker and avowed pacifist, was charged with vandalism.
All 19 members of the theatre group were accused of vandalism. They were on a tour against globalisation and racism during the July summit.
