Bertie Ahern has appointed an adviser on social inclusion, i.e. to reduce the gap between the employed and well-off, and the unemployed and the marginal, whether through disability or poverty.
The new man, Peter MacDonagh, a grandnephew of the 1916 poet and patriot, was an adviser to Micheal Martin at Education. Now he is known within the Department of the Taoiseach as "the poor mouth".
