A union representing workers at An Post has withdrawn from the Labour Relations Commission's conciliation process claiming the company has not adhered to the terms of an LRC recommendation issued in March.
The Communications Workers Union said discussions between the union and the company were convened today as a result of the return to work formula brokered by the LRC following an industrial dispute earlier in the year.
However, the CWU said it believed the company had not adhered to the agreement and that it had been left with "no option" but to adjourn participation in the LRC process until receipt of written assurances from An Post either directly or through the LRC that it will abide fully with the return to work formula.
The union said it "deeply regrets" having to take this decision.
Talks on 1,450 redundancies being sought by the troubled company and other issues surrounding mail delivery generally are before the Labour Relations Commission.
Some 420 postal workers were temporarily removed from the An Post payroll as a result of continuing industrial action by the union at the Dublin Mails Centre earlier this year. The dispute centred on the introduction of a new sorting system and new work practices.
There was severe disruption to post deliveries as a result of the dispute.
