Johannesburg - The chief whip of the African National Congress in South Africa's Parliament, Mr Tony Yengeni, has been arrested on charges arising from his possession of a luxury vehicle, Patrick Laurence reports. The vehicle came from a company which benefited from a controversial R43.8 billion arms deal.
The arrest of the former ANC guerrilla commander was the first in connection with the arms deal, which has been the focus of fierce contention between the government and opposition parties.
