A man has drowned while on a mackerel fishing trip off Co Clare today.
The man, in his early 40s, fell in after his line became caught on rocks and he tried to climb closer to the shoreline to free it.
His teenage son and several other anglers fishing off the cliffs witnessed the tragedy.
A Garda spokesman said the accident happened off Dunlickey, near Kilkee, shortly after 1pm.
